Welcome Anthony Johnson!

The Boys & Girls Club of New Haven (BGCNH) is excited to welcome Anthony Johnson as their new Director of Programs and Administration. He has been deeply embedded in the Boys & Girls Club of America (BGCA) movement for 30 years and brings a wealth of knowledge in youth program development, staff recruitment and training, and operations.

“Anthony offers decades-worth of Boys & Girls Club experience and knowledge, an understanding of the community we serve, and a vision to move us forward as a leader in youth development with exciting and engaging new programs,” commented Barbara Chesler, BGCNH’s Interim Executive Director.

Johnson has served in leadership roles at BGCA clubs from coast-to-coast, including the Boys & Girls Club of Hartford, the Boys & Girls Club of New Rochelle, the Madison Square Boys & Girls Club (The Bronx, New York) and Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater San Diego, Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Portland, and Boys & Girls Clubs of Albany (OR). He is a Distinguished Member of the Boys and Girls Club of America Academy and served as a National Trainer for 17 years, assisting BGCA in training more than 35,000 staff members and program volunteers. Additionally, Johnson recently served a program manager for Urban Youth Development International (The Bronx, New York), where he provided supervision for their Anti-Gun Violence Outreach Team.

Johnson holds an MA in Communications from Oregon State University and an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education from San Diego Mesa Junior College.

“It is my promise to work with the young people of New Haven and provide access to their dreams,” Johnson shared.
